ATLANTA, Ga.—This year is the second time movie actress Molly Loch has seen Shen Yun Performing Arts, and she said she looks forward to coming again next year. Originally from Cambodia, Mrs. Loch said she appreciates Shen Yun’s presentation of traditional culture.

She attended the evening performance at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Jan. 31, 2026, to celebrate her and her husband’s 20th wedding anniversary.

“It’s lovely,” she said. “I love it because it reminded me [of] our culture.”

Since 2006, Shen Yun has performed at top theatres worldwide with a mission to revive China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture, showcasing “China before communism.”

Ms. Loch said she appreciates Shen Yun for its message, adding that it is educational and “also enlightenment for the world.”

Based in New York, the company is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company. Along with folk dances and solo performances, the production depicts story-based pieces that tell tales from ancient times to modern-day.

She said seeing Shen Yun provides the audience with a great way to learn about cultures outside the West.

“Everybody should come to the show,” she said, adding that this way people can experience what happens in other parts of the world.

China was once known as “The Land of the Divine” and Shen Yun presents this culture by drawing upon the 5,000 years of traditional culture.

In the past, artists looked to the divine for inspiration and cultivated virtue to create uplifting art. Today, Shen Yun’s artists follow this noble tradition. As such, the performance often includes spiritually uplifting messages, according to the company’s website.

Mrs. Loch was impressed with the energy of the performers and the company’s precise combination of choreography, orchestration, and integrated digital animation.

Shen Yun’s one-of-a-kind orchestra blends traditional Chinese instruments with a classical Western orchestra. Ancient Chinese instruments such as the two-string erhu and the pipa lead the melody amidst the traditional instruments found in a Western orchestra.

“Each performance is very exciting,” Mrs. Loch said. “The choreography and the way the music combines …. especially the screen, the animations that jump out … that’s very entertaining.”

Shen Yun utilizes a patented digital backdrop that allows performers to travel back and forth between the stage and the background projection.

“The performance and everything else is perfect; I love it,” Mrs. Loch said. “I would like to come back next year.”

“I told everybody that they should come see the show,” she added.
