LIVORNO, Italy—On the evening of Jan. 28, Shen Yun Performing Arts presented its second and final performance in the western Italian city of Livorno at the Teatro Goldoni, once again filling the venue to full capacity. At the end of the performance, the audience offered enthusiastic applause, their excitement, awe, and admiration shining through. Reluctant to leave, many lingered at the theater, making plans to return next year.
“The performance was breathtakingly beautiful; every scene deeply moved me,” Mr. Martorana said.
“Through dance, music, and other art forms, the artists conveyed emotions of tranquility, peace, and joy to us.”
He also highlighted the erhu, an instrument with millennia of history: “This is a magnificent and unique instrument I’ve never seen before. Its melodious and expressive tones reach deep into the soul, conveying emotions that are truly moving.”
He praised the soprano’s song for conveying a divine message and “inviting us to contemplate and ponder.”
Shen Yun Is a ‘Magical Experience’

After watching Shen Yun on the same night, Luca Andreini, manager of a social health organization, said it was a “remedy for the soul.”
Mr. Andreini, who attended Shen Yun with his family, said it was “elegant and surreal.”
“I call it ‘a remedy for the soul’ because it allows one to temporarily escape the reality of busy daily life. And I must admit, the soft colors and perfectly synchronized dance movements truly create a surreal, magical experience.”
When discussing how the legendary Gods and immortals were vividly brought to life on the digital backdrop, he said, “The backdrop effects were simply magical. Since I had no prior knowledge of the performance, everything was a complete surprise. It was precisely this sudden, unexpected surprise that made it so profoundly moving. Even now, I’m still pondering how they achieved certain details.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts is dedicated to reviving traditional Chinese culture. In the performance, the soprano urges humanity to uphold goodness and tradition in her song. “I believe these messages are extremely important,“ Mr. Andreini said. ”Unfortunately, our busy daily lives often disconnect us from these values, causing us to forget what truly matters: our connection to nature and to one another. These things are slowly slipping away from us.”
When asked about the most moving part of the performance, he cited the dance drama exposing the persecution of faith currently occurring in China. “That piece truly touched people’s conscience—at least it did for me,” he said. “Fortunately, the piece had a positive conclusion, showing that faith and divine concepts can help people regain what they’ve lost.”
Despite Shen Yun’s success and popularity worldwide, the company is banned from performing in China, including Hong Kong, which Mr. Andreini said is deeply regrettable.
“We hope things will change; that’s the hope, and perhaps that’s the message the artists wish to convey to us,” he said.
This is a ‘Precious Gift’

Real estate general manager Riccardo Misale and his wife attended the Shen Yun performance and were deeply moved.
“Shen Yun is superbly executed and profoundly meaningful,” Mr. Misale said after watching the performance. “We gave ourselves a truly precious gift (by attending Shen Yun). It brought us beautiful visions for the future.”
Mr. Misale shared: “This was our first time attending. The stage scenes captivated us deeply. The entire production was brilliantly presented, creating a truly immersive experience.”
Shen Yun’s mission to revive traditional Chinese culture is an inspiring ideal, Mr. Misale said. “If such a vision could be realized in reality, it would be an extraordinary undertaking,” he said. “It fills one with dreams and makes you believe the future can truly be better.”
He further emphasized that preserving and passing on this culture is “absolutely vital,” as “Looking back at the past helps us become better in the future.”
He believes that despite this, “many Chinese people still hold onto the important values they were taught from childhood and continue to pass on those precious traditional cultures.”
The song by Shen Yun’s soprano also inspired him, prompting reflections on life and divinity. “Her singing was incredibly moving. She spoke of the afterlife, mentioned higher beings above us, and repeatedly referred to the Creator. We also hope the Creator will save us all.”
He praised, “This was a huge plus point, and the orchestra’s performance itself was absolutely magnificent.”
Mr. Misale stated that the greatest takeaway from the day was “giving myself such a precious gift.”
Finally, he offered sincere good wishes to the Shen Yun artists: “I hope they can spread their message and spiritual ideals even further, and that more and more people will support them.”
