VENICE, Florida—Vasili Horin, a teacher, did not have to see Shen Yun Performing Art’s entire performance to determine its worth.
“I think it’s really good,” said Mr. Horin, sitting in the Venice Performing Arts Center on March 11 during the intermission and eagerly waiting for the performance’s second half to begin. “A lot of different choreography has taken place, and it looks really nice. A lot of skill.”
“I was actually surprised to see how much spirituality is put into it,” admitted Mr. Horin. “I see the message to be One with our Creator, one with our world, one with ourselves.”
“I think it’s great because it’s what’s missing in the world right now, where we are struggling with finding peace and balance. [Shen Yun] has a message and symbolism that shows that.”“I think this generation and future generations that continue are lost, and this is a way for them to find themselves back to where they need to be.”
“Integrity, love, harmony with everything,” said Mr. Horin, listing some of the disappearing values. “It’s taking place now in the world—we are losing it—they are no longer available to us [and are] being taken away from us.”
“I don’t think it’s just communism; I think it’s [also] socialism,” Mr. Horin observed. “I think any form of government that wants to strip away people’s rights are stripping away our unity.”
Summarizing the performance, Mr. Horin said that Shen Yun was a “deep impactful spiritual awakening and in some cases a warning and a message.”
