QUEBEC CITY, Canada—Radio host Franco Pryce and his daughter Simone appreciated the Shen Yun performance at the Grand Théâtre de Québec in Quebec City, where the New York-based classical Chinese dance company took the stage for one evening on Jan. 30.

“It was clear, a very beautiful message. And it’s very important,” said Mr. Pryce.

For Mr. Pryce, the message was a spiritual one. People around the world have different religions and a different name for God, but they all believe in a divine Creator, and “we need to stand together for free expression of religion,” he said.

Mr. Pryce admired the fact that Shen Yun was able to touch on such an important topic, which included the horrors of human rights abuses at the hands of the Chinese communist regime, in a way that was pure and beautiful.

Since its inception in 2006, Shen Yun’s mission has been to showcase through music and dance the “5,000 years of Chinese civilization“ and the beauty and goodness of ”China before communism.”

The “Land of the Divine” was, until the communist takeover in 1949, a spiritual land that considered its culture to be a gift from heaven.

“I loved the show,” Mr. Pryce said. “It’s done tastefully. But this message is very, very, very important.”

“This show underlines the things we believe in, in particular, the freedom for all brothers and sisters to express their religion, their love of God and of Creation, in their own way, freely, in their home countries, wherever they live, and whatever they believe,” he said.
