IDAHO FALLS, Idaho—On April 19, entrepreneur and business owner Nicole Giacomini drove four hours from Montana just to attend Shen Yun’s evening show at the Civic Center for the Performing Arts.
“It’s such a precise and exquisite expression!” she exclaimed. “[There is] so much light and so much grace. It’s majestic—I loved it.”
“I think everyone should see the show. Not just for the grace and beauty of it but to be educated and understand the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. It’s a universal message.”Due to Shen Yun’s insistence on presenting the truth of events under communist rule in present-day Chinese society—not only is the company banned in China, but its artists also receive frequent harassment and threats from the communist party.
Ms. Giacomini had worked for several years in China and had “first-hand experience with some of the things that were being expressed on the stage,” she said.
“I’m very aware of the challenges, and it was very emotional for me to watch the show.”
“In my belief system, we believe we are all divine beings that came to earth under the creator’s plan. I was excited to see this universal message—that we’re all trying to return to the heavens—through the principles [of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance,]” Ms. Giacomini stated.
“Then [vocalist] expressed the dangers of communism and how the modern ways have removed us from the truth. We all need to unite and [return to] the beauty, grace, and truth of these life principles.”
“I think it’s important—especially in America—to have an outside view of the world. [We should] share in another’s culture and traditions and hear a message that might not be so commonly spoken in our culture. People need to see this.”
