“I really liked it—it was technical and wonderful,” he said. “How can I say it—it is an enchantment for the eyes, perfection of movement, and colors, and of light.”
“And it brings a different perspective to people who live far away from the culture,” said Mr. Forte, who is the co-founder and head of the Brazilian division of VTEX, a financial services company.
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.
“It was very enriching, not only to get to know the culture, but also to learn a lot about Chinese technique,” Mr. Forte said.
Mr. Forte said that although the culture was a faraway one, through the spiritual aspects of the show, he saw something universal.
“I believe humanity has always relied on such a belief. I believe that deep down, divinity is within us, we have to save ourselves,” he said. Conversely, to deny that prevents humanity from moving forward spiritually as well. “In the other part of the play, we say this ourselves, that we prevent ourselves from moving forward. I think it’s the same thing. We are the strength to move forward.”He applauded the artists as virtuosos, and wished them the best in their efforts to “continue to bring the culture and art wherever they can throughout the world.”
