Avocados are known for their high fat content, but please don’t be afraid! Sure, they’re high in calories and that is something to consider, but I can ensure you that this recipe is a great, healthy choice for you sweet tooth! The healthy fats in avocados are so important for overall health and long-term weight loss. Over half of the total fat in avocado is oleic acid. Oleic acid has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol and also helps our digestive tract transport and absorb important nutrients like carotenoids. Avocados are full of carotenoids as well, which means these nutrients are ready to be assimilated in the body!

Maca root is widely used to increase energy and build stamina. It balances hormones and increases the libido and fertility of both men and women. Maca is rich in B-vitamins and vitamin C, and provides plenty of iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous and iodine. Protein is also abundant in maca root, including the branch chain amino acids, which are the only three amino acids that the body uses diligently for energy.

Ingredients:

Serves 2
1 ripe avocado
1 banana
½ + ¼ cup of almond milk
2 heaping tbsp of cacao powder
1 tbsp of maca root powder

Directions:

In a blender add all ingredients and mix until it turns into a smooth pudding texture, adding more almond milk if necessary. Spoon into serving glasses and set in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes or more. Tastes best when eaten within the day! Enjoy!
