A deer was captured on camera giving birth to two fawns, and it has gone viral just in time for Mother’s Day.

The couple saw the deer giving birth in their own backyard.

Deer tend to give birth during the spring and the summer---namely April to June---and they tend to have one to three fawns.

They are born with their eyes totally open and fully furred, according to NativeAnimalRescue.org.

Many newborn fawns can stand on their own in 10 minutes and can walk in seven hours. They stay with their mother until the following winter.

And when a doe has to leave her babies in order to get food for them, the fawns may be left alone for a short period of time.

It’s not uncommon for a fallow deer to give birth to twins. A study found that half of all fawns are really twins.
