An Ohio teen has gone viral for galloping up to his girlfriend’s house with his three best friends for an epic, medieval-themed “promposal.”

Gavin Gillig showed up at his girlfriend, Gianna Masterlasco’s, house near Findlay, Ohio on April 25 with three willing comrades: fellow seniors Ethan Bauer, RJ Coldren, and Damon Gasser. The Liberty-Benton High Schoolers were dressed in wigs and pretended to ride a horse, while Gavin donned a regal cloak and a paper crown from Burger King.

Gianna’s father, Patrick Masterlasco, captured the proposal on camera through near-hysterical laughter.

Liberty-Benton junior Gianna, 17, told the Epoch Times: “Gavin kept asking me if I was going to be home after work, which raised my suspicions. I finally received a text at about 8:30 p.m. to open my front door and have a camera ready, so I turned to my dad and said, ‘Start videoing!’”

Gianna opened the door to Ethan playing a rousing theme on his trumpet as he signaled his friends to gallop on their “horse” and arrive in front of her doorstep.

Damon made the sound of a galloping horse by smacking two empty containers from Walmart and didn’t miss a beat.

When the four of them were situated on Gianna’s lawn, they made a show of lifting RJ from his pretend saddle to approach Gianna and unravel a scroll. RJ then delivered a hilarious “promposal” in a silly accent, reminiscent of the British absurd comedy classic, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

In the footage, RJ turns his scroll around to reveal a single word, “Prom?” Gianna replies with a “Yes,” and RJ then places a matching paper crown on her head as Gavin yells out the word “Wonderful!” before summoning his men to mount their make-believe horse and retreat, all the way back down the street.

Gianna was in “awe” of the proposal and loved every bit of it, but said that she totally expected something like this.

“Gavin is also a ‘go big or go home’ kind of guy ... he wasn’t going to settle for a sign and some flowers,” Gianna said. “They all love to be goofy and have fun.”

Gavin came up with the creative idea after he saw many promposals that were funny.

“[I] wanted to make one that could top all of the promposals that had happened so far,” Gavin said. “When I told my friends, they loved the idea of it and were very excited to help out.”

The group of friends then rehearsed the idea once and they were confident they didn’t need to practice more. Gavin already had some of the props at home, but he sourced a few things from Walmart.

Gavin and his fair maiden attended prom together on May 6 at a hotel in their hometown. Gavin wore a bold orange suit and Gianna wore an orange dress to match. The couple drove in style in a 1924 Ford Model T.

It was Gianna who first noticed Gavin midway through her sophomore year, shortly before their relationship began.

“I finally decided to start talking to him. He asked me on a date; we went mini golfing,” Gianna said. “We’ve now been dating for a little less than a year. ... There has never been a dull moment with Gavin and his friends during the time I have been dating him!”
