Life expectancy in the United States hit 79 years in 2024, a record high, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a Jan. 29 report.

The life expectancy increased by just over 7 months from 2023 overall. For females, it increased by about 3 and a half months to 81.4 years. For males, the increase was by about 8 and a half months to 75.8 years.
