Among hospitalized patients with COVID-19, a new study found that vaccinated patients had a significantly higher risk of mortality, suggesting vaccination may not prevent severe outcomes among hospitalized patients.

The February study published in Frontiers in Immunology found that mortality among vaccinated and unvaccinated patients was 70 percent and 37 percent, respectively, and that the overall survival rate was two times higher in the unvaccinated group.
