A 30-year study finds that a primarily plant-based diet, with minimal ultra-processed food and low to moderate amounts of animal-based foods such as fish and dairy, could raise our chances of reaching 70 without developing chronic disease, according to a new study from Harvard researchers.

Healthy aging, as defined by the researchers, means reaching age 70 free of major chronic diseases, with good cognitive, physical, and mental health.
