How You Argue May Predict Future Health Trouble

Whether you let it all out or bottle it up, arguments between spouses align with specific health problems, researchers report.

The study, based on how couples behave during conflicts, suggests outbursts of anger predict cardiovascular problems later in life. On the other hand, shutting down emotionally or “stonewalling” during conflict raises the risk of musculoskeletal ailments such as a bad back or stiff muscles.

The findings could spur hotheaded people to consider such interventions as anger management.
