A new study found that sugar in sweetened drinks may have a more adverse impact on a person’s cardiovascular health than sugar in other sweets, suggesting that one may want to consider not only how much sugar is consumed but also its source.
Consuming more sugary drinks was associated with a higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, compared with eating sweet baked goods or pastries, according to the study led by multiple researchers at universities in Sweden and Denmark, published on Dec. 8 in the Frontiers in Public Health journal.
