I will certainly bring my mother, who lives far away in the other part of the country, to watch DPA.

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Dressed in a kimono, Ms. Kabayama, a culinary nutritionist with 28 years of experience, attended the premiere Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour show on Feb. 15 at the Alsok Concert Hall.

Ms. Kabayama has a culinary classroom filled with books on the subject. She appears on a culinary television program and is a long-term columnist on cooking for a newspaper.

Ms. Kabayama is from Yamaguchi Prefecture, a two-hour drive from Hiroshima. Although the road trip was not easy, she said that “it is all well worth it” upon seeing the show.

“DPA’s colors and backdrops moved me the most. It is the first time in my life to see such backdrops and combination of colors. DPA’s colors are very gorgeous. When the figures descend from Heaven to Earth in the backdrops—suddenly a dancer walks out— then the character the dancer is portrayed goes back into the backdrops. This method is so interesting. It left a deep impression and also touched me.”

She said in her future research on cuisines, she will incorporate the spiritual power displayed by the DPA dancers into her work.

“Before I saw DPA’s video advertisements, but in comparison to what I witnessed today on stage, there is an immense difference. On the television screen, it is impossible to obtain the things we obtain in [live] theater. I am so happy. Buying the most expensive ticket is certainly worth it.”

Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, depicting a father, who practices the traditional discipline Falun Dafa, is tortured to death by the Chinese Communist Party, touched Ms. Kabayama. In the program, as the old Chinese saying goes, “Good people are ultimately rewarded, even if not in this lifetime.” A stirring and wonderful scene then unfolds.

“The introduction of the persecution of Falun Gong left me with a deep impression. Although [the program] did not have any narration, everything was conveyed well to the [audience]. The manifestation of gods and Heaven was also very clear. The performance is brilliant.”

She said that she will certainly bring her mother, who lives far away in the other part of the country, to watch DPA.
