Various - Seven Heven (BBE)

This is an outstanding compilation of soul, funk and funky jazz from the last decade or so. The thread that ties these tunes together is not genre or label but format; all of them were released on 7-inch vinyl. The music is of black origin and ranges from straight up foot tapping funk through to luscious Latin grooves. Most are originals with a few classic covers including rare groove anthem ‘I Believe in Miracles’ and the Eddie Bo & Inez Cheatham classic ‘Lover and a Friend’. With 20 tracks and not a dud among them Seven Heven is excellent value and well worth investing some of your hard-earned record-buying reserve into.
