Gilles Peterson Presents Worldwide
Just like Gilles Peterson’s celebrated BBC Radio 1 Worldwide show itself, there is a very wide variety of genres on this double disc set and the standard is high. The album reflects the more commercial side of Gilles’ gamut and those who yearn for the Dingwalls days may need to supplement this with some Brownswood releases. But this is an awesome collection of songs from the last decade or so, many of which you may not have discovered elsewhere. And as with Gilles’ radio show, there are a couple of truly inspirational pieces that remind you why you love music so much: RSL’s ‘Wesley Music’ and Herbert’s ‘The Audience’.
