SEATTLE—Shen Yun Performing Arts provides new and exciting performances every year, which keeps audience members coming back for more.

“I felt it,” said retired educator Susan Moon. “I don’t know why, but even more today then ever before. I think maybe it’s because our world and what we are experiencing in our world—but today it was even more emotional.”

Ms. Moon said she’s seen the performance seven times, and she’s still more impressed each and every time. “Every year I get more out of it,” she said.

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” reads Shen Yun’s website. “Its stunning beauty and tremendous energy leave audiences uplifted and inspired.”

“It’s really actually hard to find the words,” Ms. Moon added. “When the curtain goes up, I’m almost in tears because it’s so exquisite and so beautiful—the dancers and costumes and the music.”

Shen Yun’s beauty, grace, and positive messages even seem evoke a special kind of power that helps audience members deal with a complex and challenging world. “I think we get so thrown by what’s happening in the news and the world, and we feel helpless,” Ms. Moon said. “When you have this kind of important escape like this, it really hits you physically and emotionally on so many levels.”

Ms. Moon concluded that “It’s a very important show. It’s really crucial I think.”

Mother and Daughter Drive 6 Hours to See Shen Yun Again

“We saw the show in Eugene, and we loved it so much that we decided we wanted to chase it up to here, all the way to Seattle to see it again,” said Penny Gillespie, a business owner. “Because I think it’s extraordinary.”

Ms. Gillespie added, “It’s just an extraordinary show. It’s got a tremendous amount of heart and artistic brilliance, and the history of the Chinese tradition seems very special and very deep.”

“Chinese dance is at the heart of what Shen Yun does,” according the Shen Yun website. “Known for its incredible flips and spins, and its gentle elegance, it is one of the most rigorous and expressive art forms in the world.”

“Everything—the choreography and the compositions and the precision—I just cannot believe how precise every performance is,” Ms. Gillespie said. “It was just so beautiful that it was worth coming all the way up to see again.”
