HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—Kendra and Richard Krell attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Von Braun Center on Jan. 25. Mrs. Krell does administrative work for a gym and Mr. Krell is an aviation expert, pilot, and Chief Warrant Officer in the army.
“It’s beautiful,” Mrs. Krell said.
“We want peace. We want people to get along and understand each other’s culture. It’s very important that we understand each other’s culture, but it should be expressed everywhere and so people can understand each other, and understand our past, our culture, and where we come from. That’s what it shows here.”
The ongoing persecution in China saddened Mr. Krell, as did the fact that Shen Yun is banned in China.
“I think it’s wonderful that it can be expressed today here. Sadly, it cannot be expressed where it originated from. That’s the hard part of it,” he said.
Mrs. Krell thought it important that people understand the original China. Both congratulated the performing artists.
Re-Emergence of Chinese Culture
Dr. Paul Tabereaux and his son Charles enjoyed the performance of Shen Yun.“It really showed me a lot about how their cultural and ethnic dance was about, like I never really knew that much about it,” Charles enthused. He especially liked the Tibetan ethnic dance. “I thought that one was cool, because it was like they had the long sleeves, and it was like a really cool background on the screen.”
Dr. Tabereaux enjoyed the long “water sleeves” as well, traditionally used long sleeves said to be inspired by the clothing worn in the heavens. He said he liked “how it all kind of comes together, and they’re so perfectly aligned. It’s beautiful.”
Dr. Tabereaux said, “I forget that it’s a real orchestra when you’re listening. It’s just so integrated and perfect.”
Both would recommend Shen Yun to friends. According to Charles: “It’s just been really, really good, and interesting. I didn’t quite know … I wasn’t sure what it was going to be like because one of my friends, he went last year, and he said it was really cool. And I was really impressed by it.”
“Thank you for the wonderful performance. We’re enjoying it very much,” Dr. Tabereaux said.
