Congratulations! We made it. It’s safe to say that warmer days are ahead of us. Like most people, in addition to honoring the U.S. armed forces, we see Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer. That means, beach trips, outdoor workouts, and yes, barbecue after barbecue. Party invites can be hard to avoid, and hey, you shouldn’t have to. We can all admit, though, that it can be easy to fall off track when each weekend you have yet another can’t-miss cookout on the agenda. Good news, we took the time to round up five recipes (so you can spend more time prepping!) that you can enjoy and/or prepare this weekend—and for the rest of summer—without feeling like you’ve completely fallen off course. Remember, moderation is key. Have fun!

  1. If you’re craving pasta salad…

Try this

“>Italian Zucchini Pasta Salad. Boasting ingredients like cubed salami, artichoke hearts, and provolone cheese, we have a feeling that you won’t even miss those starchy noodles. Recipe via Inspiralized.com

  1. If you’ve got burgers on the brain…

Try these

“>Hawaiian Turkey Sliders. They’re low in calories, cholesterol, saturated fat and sodium—but not in flavor. Even better? Their miniature size leaves room to taste test other treats on the table. Recipe via EatingWell.com

  1. If you’re ditching the buns…

Try

“>Asian Shrimp Kebabs. These bad boys make a great appetizer and are a light start to your eating escapades. Pro tip from the chef: Ditch the mini shrimp and go straight for the jumbo. Recipe via FitFoodieFinds.com

  1. If you want two for the effort of one…

Try this

“>Black Bean Salsa, which doubles as a salad if you ditch the chips. There’s no cooking required, just a little dice and toss action and you’re done. Plus, at only 142 calories a serving, you can definitely go for seconds. Recipe via Heart.org.

  1. If you’re thinking, “What’s a party without dessert?”…

We’re with you, and we couldn’t wrap up this list without including a sweet treat. Fresh fruit is always an option, but if you’re looking for something a little more creative, try this

“>Paleo-friendly Chocolate Berry Tart. It has shredded coconut, maple syrup and, of course, chocolate. Best part is, everyone can have a piece because not only is it Paleo-friendly, but it’s approved for gluten-free and vegan diets. Dig in. Recipe via Bakerita.com
