Israel Strikes Iran

Major Generals Hossein Salami, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, and Gholam Ali Rashid were the Iranian armed forces’ top three generals. Iran has vowed to avenge them.

The Israeli operation, named ‘Rising Lion,’ aimed to decapitate Iran’s nuclear program and eliminate the threat posed by related military capabilities.

The overnight strikes killed several top Iranian military officials.

The Russian Foreign Ministry described the airstrikes as an atrocity and said they threatened to ‘damage regional and international security.’

The U.S. President said that Tehran now had to come to the table to ’save what was once known as the Iranian Empire.’

Iran launched around 100 drones toward Israeli territory in retaliation for the strikes, an Israeli military spokesman said.

Israel launched strikes early on Friday, rekindling fears of a full-scale conflict.

The Iranian military suggested that the United States may also face retaliation, despite the U.S. government stating it was not involved in the strikes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed the strikes would continue ‘for as many days as it takes’ to remove the threat.

The U.S. Embassy has advised government employees and American citizens to shelter in place and await instructions.

‘Our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,’ the secretary of state says.

The US administration has said that Iran must completely dismantle its capability to produce a nuclear weapon.

The alerts come as Trump said on June 11 that Iran ‘cannot have’ a nuclear weapon.
