The youngest victims of the CCP virus in the United Kingdom have made their recovery, and the parents of these survivor babies are warning others about protecting their children.
Newborns Ava da Silva Jules, of London, and Mason Atton, of Derbyshire, each contracted the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, within the first few weeks of their lives. Baby Ava was just 7 weeks old when she started showing symptoms, including difficulty breathing, a fever, and decreased appetite. Baby Mason had a high fever and stopped taking milk, which terrified his parents, reported Daily Mail.

While both infants have made a full recovery thanks to neonatal specialist care, their parents are using the terrifying experience to warn people about the dangers of the virus and the importance of respecting public health guidelines.

For the da Silva family, it was mother Vania who was suffering from a cough that wouldn’t go away, and she probably transmitted the virus to little Ava. While for the Atton family, dad Shaun felt responsible for bringing the virus home from work.

“About a week before Mason fell ill I came back from London with a high temperature and a cough so I think I brought the virus into the house,” Shaun told the outlet.

Both families were alarmed at how quickly the disease affected their babies. Mason was taken to the hospital because of his high temperature, but doctors suspected bronchitis at first; meanwhile, for Ava, doctors thought she had viral meningitis. It was only later when their tests for COVID-19 came back positive that the families knew why their babies were so sick.

“Mason got a really high temperature—39°C (102.2°F)—and he was screaming for hours on end,” Shaun said. “We took him back to hospital but the pediatrician had to take advice from other doctors about how to treat him because the disease is so new.”

Meanwhile, Vania said that baby Ava’s symptoms were very distressing. “Ava was wheezing and not breathing properly,” Vania said. “Her temperature kept going up and reached 38.2°C.”

When the ambulance came, the paramedics decided Ava needed to be hospitalized, which was devastating as Vania had to stay home given her own COVID symptoms. Ava’s dad, Ashleigh, was able to accompany her.

After harrowing recoveries, the babies were reunited with their parents. The parents then did their most to dispel myths about the CCP virus not seriously affecting children.

Vania da Silva told Daily Mail that people don’t realize how serious this virus is. She said, “People say that babies cannot catch the virus but clearly they can.”

As for Shaun, he posted on Facebook to warn people about taking social distancing seriously. He shared his little son’s story to let people know how vulnerable everyone is, regardless of age.

“Popping out to see family, speaking to people in the streets, and sunbathing in parks is not isolating!” Shaun wrote.

“Stay safe guys,” he wrote, adding that all one needs to do is simply stay at home.
