Stephen Starr Opens El Vez

Stephen Starr opened El Vez in Battery Park City last week in the form of a casual Mexican eatery. The executive chef is David LaForce, the chef behind El Vez Philadelphia.

Besides ceviches, fundidos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and tacos, there are specials such as Chile en Nogada, a poblano pepper filled with ground beef, almonds, and dried fruit topped with a walnut sauce; and Los Moles, a negro mole with lamb, poblano mole with chicken, and pipian rojo mole with pork.

Besides a selection of specialty cocktails and margaritas, the bar features 150 mescals and tequilas plus other agave-based spirits like sotol, raicilla, and bacanora.
