Writer Sees Shen Yun as a Transformative Event: ‘I felt elevated’

“I thought it was absolutely breathtaking. I thought it was a fabulous array of color and talent. The musical numbers, especially the lady with the two-stringed instrument, I’ve never experienced anything like that. It went right through me. It was absolutely fabulous. It was almost a spiritual event.”

“We didn’t know what to expect. We had heard from some friends that it’s a wonderful experience, and so we were looking for something like that, and this was certainly above and beyond our expectations.”

“You’re moved emotionally. I didn’t find there to be any problem with difference of culture or difference of language; it was a universal experience. It is a very uncommon thing, and I wish we had more of this in this country.

“[Shen Yun] has a noble calling with what [they’re] doing, because, unlike the American politics these days, this kind of experience brings people together, and we didn’t know anyone sitting next to us, but we all experienced that same resonance of human emotion, and that’s value and that’s quality.”

“To see these young people ... spending so much time and effort in bringing that kind of cultural ‘je ne sais quoi’ was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. ... I'd like to see it again.”

“The stories were very, very clear and transformative. I felt elevated.”

“The music and the artistry was a combination of art that coalesced in a wonderful fashion. I’ve been to theater many times, I’ve been to symphonies, and concerts, but this was above that. It wasn’t just a musical experience, it resonated very strongly, in here. It was fabulous. And [the artists] are to be congratulated.”

“Please tell everyone that an old cowboy from Tombstone, Arizona, thought it was a transformative event in my life.”

“It just blew me away.”
