ATLANTA—Dr. Bill Schafer, Vice President for Student Affairs at Georgia Tech University, said he wanted his daughters to see “true Chinese entertainment.”
Dr. Schafer appreciated the music. “Obviously the music is fabulous,” he said. The orchestra of classical Western instruments blended with traditional Chinese instruments gives a unique sound.
“The costumes, the colors, the movements of them and learning more about the history of China, that’s what I really enjoy.”
One of his daughters said, “I really liked the colors and the movement of the fabrics on stage.”
Dr. Schafer said he felt everyone should experience Shen Yun.
“I think for those of us here in the United States to see this kind of performance, it awakens your senses.”
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture that was brought to the brink of extinction under 60
years of communist rule, according to the program.
According to the Shen Yun website, “For 5,000 years divine culture flourished in the land of China. Humanity’s treasure was nearly lost, but through breathtaking music and dance, Shen Yun is bringing back this glorious culture.'’
