NEWARK, N.J.—Shen Yun Performing Arts put on a stirring performance on May 3, highlighting Chinese culture before communism, and the audience at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center loved it.
“All the music is really, really breathtaking,” Mr. Perez said. “Live music is really [great] and I like the way the music is in sync with the dancers. It’s really good.”
An audience favorite is Shen Yun’s 3D technology that projects on a backscreen. Performers seemingly enter other realms as they fly or jump into the screen.
“Oh my, I love it,” Mr. Perez said. “That backdrop was awesome. That’s really awesome, the way they go down and then come up on the screen. It’s really good.”
Based on his career in education, Mr. Perez thought Shen Yun would be very educational for the younger generation.
“It is very educational because people have this perception of China and the way it is now. But what they don’t know is that they need to get to know the cultural aspect of China. I enjoy movies as well about Chinese culture.”
“It is important for the tradition to come back because it’s an essence for world peace,” he said. “Because of the values that they instill, the compassion that they show there, the belief in the Buddha and of the saints. It is something that would put the world at ease because we wouldn’t have the tension [made] by the communists.”
Mr. Perez gave his assessment of the performance today: “I’m taking away the whole thing, the whole spectacular thing. It’s something for me to remember.”
