YUANLIN, Taiwan—On the evening of March 25, Yuanlin Township chief Wu Zongxian’s wife, Ms. Lin Yuhui, said that it was Yunlin Township’s honor to host the last two shows of the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company’s 39 shows in its 2009 Taiwan tour, and that she was very lucky to have the opportunity of watching Shen Yun’s last show in Taiwan.

Ms. Lin said during intermission that it was a pity the Township Chief was unable to attend the show in person, since he had to attend a meeting in Taipei. “I think seeing Shen Yun is not only visual or hearing enjoyment, but also it is spiritual enjoyment. It is a very tranquil and very peaceful feeling. It is really great!

“All in all, Shen Yun’s music and costumes were so wonderful. The costumes in every program were very beautiful. As to the animated backdrops, it was the first time for us to see this kind of performance in Yuanlin. Seeing is believing!”

Ms. Lin mentioned that the dance The Monkey King Triumphs impressed her the most. “Because the classic novel Journey to the West is familiar to us since our childhood, and the fact that Shen Yun’s performance was so vivid and exquiste, we enjoyed it very much.”

As to another dance, The Five Millennia Begin, she said that it seemed that the fundamental cultural elements in her life were touched by this program. “I felt overwhelmed by the ... Chinese characters of the name of the program The Five Millennia Begin, when it suddenly appeared on the backdrop.”

Amazed by the exquisite Dance of the Yi, she commented, “The costumes had many layers, and they were so colorful and beautiful. Their dancing skills were indeed exceptionally good.”

When seeing the scene of the Falun Gong practitioner persecuted to death who was brought to heaven by a group of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the dance Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, she added, “Since I only learned the legends about Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bringing people’s souls to heaven from Buddhist books, I was overwhelmed by the scene presented by Shen Yun today.”

The township chief’s wife exclaimed that the Shen Yun performance was “one hundred points,” and that she would encourage the residents in Yuanlin Township to see Shen Yun’s exquisite performance in the future.
