HSINCHU, Taiwan—Dr. Tseng Hsieng-Cheng, president of National Hsinchu University of Education, appreciated Shen Yun Performing Arts’ fourth show in Hsinchu with his father on the evening of March 21, 2009. Mr. Tseng highly acclaimed the show, saying, “Shen Yun presented Chinese legendary stories and traditional Chinese literature in artistic forms of music and dance. It can inspire people’s hearts of all ages, and can comfort their souls.”

Mr. Tseng, former director-general of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Education Bureau and research fellow of the Education Reform Committee, the Executive Yuan, has been in Taiwan’s education circles for many years. After seeing Shen Yun, he commented, “If our school education system can put more emphasis on arts and literature, I believe our society will be more peaceful.”

Confronted with the financial turmoil and the economic recession, the entire society is full of uncertainty and anxiety. “Letting more people find spiritual comfort from an artistic performance in order to have a peaceful mind and get rid of frustration,” said Mr. Tseng.

He added that he enjoyed every piece of Shen Yun’s program, and that he really respected Shen Yun’s artistic director for her great efforts in selecting the performers, choreographing, and training behind the scenes to enable dancers to have such a high-quality performance on the stage.

Impressed by the stage design and dynamic backdrops, Mr. Tseng commented that in The Poet’s Vision, the scene on the backdrops was perfectly combined with the performance on the stage. Regarding this, he said, “It made the audience feel like there was a group of heavenly beings vividly descending from the palace on the moon to the human world. It was a very creative idea.”
