KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—The New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company smoothly concluded its last show in Kaohsiung at the Kaohsiung County Labor Recreation Center on the evening of March 17, while the full house audience was fascinated by the show.

Ms. Chang Hsiu-ru, founder and artistic director of the famous Kaohsiung City Ballet (KCB) was among those who appreciated Shen Yun. Though Ms. Chang led KCB to perform at home and abroad from time to time, she has never missed the opportunity to see Shen Yun when it has performed in Kaohsiung.

After watching Shen Yun’s final show in Kaohsiung, Ms. Chang exclaimed: “Truly wonderful! Perfect! Especially the dancers’ graceful movements were amazing. Although it took challenging skills to perform some of the movements, it turned out that not only did they dance them with ease, but also they perfectly demonstrated the feeling and spirit of the dances.”

Specializing in ballet and folk dance, Ms. Chang has taught many students. When interviewed, she praised Shen Yun for its presenting the universal values of compassion, beauty, harmony, and perseverance to the audience in the form of Chinese classical dance, and promote traditional culture and arts.

Ms. Chang said, “I like those dancers very much. Though they are young, they performed some difficult Chinese classical dance with exquisite movements, graceful postures, and appealing facial expressions. It is really not easy for people to make it. The show is indeed wonderful. With its spectacular presentation of Chinese classical dance, I believe Shen Yun will be popular in every corner of the earth.”

After paying special attention to the dancers’ movements and the implications of the program, Ms. Chang commented, “Shen Yun performed the acts The Poet’s Vision and The Monkey King Triumphs so perfectly that it would be easy for foreign audience members to see the diversity of the 5,000-year Chinese culture. Especially, in the dances The Poet’s Vision and Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain, the dancers’ movements were in perfect unison, and they fully demonstrated the strength and vigor of Tibetan youngsters. It is really amazing.

“What touched me the most was the scene that Buddha and Bodhisattvas suddenly appeared on the stage from the backdrops, as if they were vividly descending from heaven to the human world.

“Being a Buddhist, I was very excited and moved when seeing that scene. I really had that kind of feeling, and I believe most Buddhists might be very touched when seeing that scene,” added Ms. Chang.
