KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Ms. Li Caie, an 84-year-old dancer honored as a national treasure of Taiwan,  enjoyed the final show of the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company in Kaohsiung on March 17. She was moved by Shen Yun’s performance. After seeing the Shen Yun show last year, she exclaimed, “Wonderful! Wonderful. It made me feel like I was back in my teenage years.” After seeing the show again, she said, “Shen Yun’s performance was so magnificent that I enjoyed it so much here today.

“The female dancers’ performance was like a gentle breeze blowing in spring, while that of the male dancers demonstrated their masculinity. It was very inspiring and very enjoyable. The strength and beauty of classical Chinese dance presented by Shen Yun deserves to be emulated.”

She was invited to perform a solo dance at the opening ceremony of the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung in July 2009. Ms. Li said, “My coming here to see Shen Yun’s performance today is to challenge myself. I wanted to emulate these young dancers. I am here to appreciate Shen Yun’s exquisite implications. The rhythmic beauty of Shen Yun can serve as the goal for me to challenge myself.”

Ms. Li is one of the most outstanding dancers in Taiwan. Although she is 84-years-old, she is still enthusiastic about dancing, and still is young at heart. She still studies and practises dancing with other dancers in the Li Caie Dance Artistic Center. She said emphatically, “Only after we do exercises diligently, can we really keep in good shape. As long as a dancer can persevere in practising dancing, it is something right.” She said that after seeing the show, she would call on younger dancers taught by her to sharpen their dancing skills, so they can emulate the success of Shen Yun.
