NORMAL, Ill.—“It’s fantastic,” said Orv Graham of Orv Graham Insurance and WSOY radio host. “It’s extremely colorful, very active,” He is talking about Shen Yun Performing Arts which he saw with his wife, Donna, at the Braden Auditorium on April 13.

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” states the Shen Yun website.

Shen Yun is known for its classical Chinese and ethnic dances, dazzling costumes, and state-of-the art animated digital backdrops.

“It was spectacular to watch,” Mr. Graham explains. “The visuals are just outstanding. They did some very creative stuff with the backgrounds … with the players coming off of the screen and onto the stage. It was wonderful.”

Mr. Graham is no stranger to the entertainment field as he has been in radio for a good many years and is a radio host on “Sunday Morning Easy with Orv Graham.”

When asked how the performance made him feel he responded: “It didn’t make me feel better or worse, neither of the above. It was just enjoyment. It was fun!”

He explained further, “It is visually spectacular.”

His wife concurred and was also impressed with the hundreds of handmade costumes of the dancers. “I think the costuming was wonderful.”

Mr. Graham supported the mission of Shen Yun to restore traditional spiritual culture through the performing arts. “I think their mission is so good to introduce [traditional culture to] the rest of the world,” he said. “One of the difficulties we all have is learning enough, and so they’re teaching us.”

“Oh, of course yes,” said both of the Grahams enthusiastically, they would recommend Shen Yun.
