CHIAYI, Taiwan—Mr. Zeng Wei-min, choirmaster of the Chiayi Choir, was fascinated by the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts show in Chiayi, held on March 11. Mr. Zeng, who has studied at a music college in the United States, said, “I was told that Shen Yun’s backdrops were magnificent. I am very happy to see it myself today. Seeing is believing.”

Mr. Zeng, a devout Christian, has created many local musical plays and produced some musical programs. He commented, “Shen Yun Performing Arts teamwork is really excellent. I believe that the teamwork will carry on forever. Shen Yun is indeed magnificent.”

Talking about the arrangements of the program, he said: “Every piece of the program has meaningful implications. The audience can feel the tremendous effort put into the performance. Many people were moved.”

He also expressed that he wished the length of the show could be longer, as it continued to fascinate the audience till the very end.

Mr. Zeng added that the content of the Shen Yun show was very pure and educational.

“Today there are many children seeing the show. After seeing Shen Yun, it is like sowing seeds in the soil. They definitely will sprout and revive [traditional Chinese culture] through the arts. I believe they have been inspired by the Shen Yun spirit.”

He said he was touched by the piece Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution.

“Through the dancers’ body movements, the play, choreography, and music gave meaningful messages during the show. Shen Yun is a magnificent work of art. All the programs were excellent, and I believe its creation has set a very good example for other artists.

“While the box office [sales] in the domestic market is low, it is amazing that Shen Yun has attracted a full house for almost every show. Some people found it hard to get a ticket, so we can see how popular Shen Yun is.”
