NEW YORK—Shen Yun Performing Arts opened to an enthusiastic crowd at David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center, Thursday night.

The New York-based Shen Yun performed a selection of the best pieces of its repertoire—showcasing another journey of 5,000 years of Chinese traditional culture.

“It’s beautiful, it’s absolutely beautiful. I am very happy to be here,” said Ms. Helen Shaub, who attended the performance with her son-in-law, Francisco Brugueras, a Vice President at the investment bank, Goldman Sachs.

Ms. Shaub said she learned about Shen Yun from a magazine, and then saw the tickets for sale while shopping at Bloomingdale’s.

“This is wonderful. This is wonderful,” said Ms. Shaub after seeing the show.

“I sink into the quality of the dancing and its arrangements,” she said.

Soprano Haolan Geng’s vocals and erhu virtuoso Xiaochun Qi’s musical performance of “Can You Recall,” received an enthusiastic audience response, as did the “Plum Blossom” dance, which featured bright pink ruffled fans and “Nymphs of the Sea,” which featured flowing silk streaming across a backdrop of blue ocean.

Shen Yun is the world’s premier Chinese classical dance and music company.

Shen Yun counts many winners of international dance and vocal competitions among its artists, and its orchestras include many musicians from world-renowned symphonies and conservatories.

Ms. Shuab said that she wanted to share her experience with all of her friends and encourage them to see Shen Yun.

Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company will perform at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City, June 23-26. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
