Restaurateur Nick Boccio (Greenwich Project, Mulberry Project) and Tri Hospitality Group’s Shawn Kolodny and Ryan Tarantino have recently opened Holden & Astor, in the Meatpacking District.
The 92-seat restaurant offers a classic American menu with modern touches.
Head chef Carmine Di Giovanni (formerly at Cipriani and Picholine) offers dishes like Guanciale with pickled mustard seed, radish, and cilantro; Blackened Heritage Pork tenderloin with corn pudding, clams, and broccoli rabe; and a Chicken Duo Brick Style with pulled BBQ “toast” and buttermilk ranch.
The cocktail list was created by head mixologist Sam Ziar (Mulberry Project, Orient Express, and Lambs Club). Signature drinks include the Lure, a vodka-based drink with lavender, lemon, coconut water, and fruits rouges; and the Wembley Stadium, a rose-tinted drink with Pink Peppercorn gin, crème de pêche, Peychaud’s bitters, lemon, and orange.
