NEW YORK—The New York Theater Ballet presented two free performances of “The Nutcracker” at the Winter Garden in the World Financial Center on Tuesday. The garden was packed for the 6 p.m. performance. The George Balanchine’s Art Nouveau-style production will be on at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center from Nov. 25 to Dec. 31.

The illumination of 100,000 holiday lights throughout the garden preceeded the evening performance, meant to transform the glass-vaulted atrium into a giant snow globe.
