Let’s face it, life can be hectic. And maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging and nowhere is that truer than for those in the entertainment industry. But one actress feels proud after seeing her fitness regimen pay off.

On Friday, Dec. 21, Drew Barrymore, 43, posted on Instagram that she had lost 25 pounds in three months with the help of a good trainer.

It’s not easy to maintain a healthy body. She credits Marnie Alton, founder of Barre Belle in Los Angeles, for helping her succeed.

“When I look at Instagram, I am made to think I should be at my best self. But most days, I lack consistency due to real life,” Barrymore wrote. “With the right people (@marniealton) we can make our goals a reality.”

The mother of two posted before and after photos of herself doing a sit-up boat pose. In the before photo, her arms are blurred as she appears to struggle to get into that position. In the after photo, she sits up straighter with her arms held high, appearing to be more at ease.

“You can tell my face is so much thinner! This takes me so much work,” she wrote. “Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it!”

Earlier this year, the “Santa Clarita Diet” actress told People that during the show’s hiatus, she immediately started to eat excessively. Although she didn’t mind carrying around that extra weight, her mom, daughter, and even a stranger commented about her physique.

One day as she was leaving a restaurant with her family, a woman thought she was pregnant. “‘No, I’m just fat right now,’” Barrymore recalled on People. “And I walked out of the restaurant and I was like, ‘Oh man, that is rough.’”

She acts as a mom-turned-zombie in the horror-comedy Netflix series. In order to maintain the look of someone who takes in a lot of protein, she diets and eats healthy.

“When I’m doing the show I’m a vegan and I barely eat anything, and I workout every day, and it’s so healthy,” Barrymore told People. “It gets to be euphoric, and then it’s like food poisoning, you feel like you’ll never eat again, and then before you know it you’re pigging out with the feed bag strapped to your face. And I’m a foodie, and love food and I travel the world for food, so I get heavy again between the show.”

In her Instagram post, Barrymore blames genetics for the extra effort she has to put in to maintain her healthy appearance, but she still appreciates her origins.

“I love where I come from (JOHN ETHEL LIONEL) and whatever package it comes in,” she wrote. “I just know that I have the control to be what I want. Even if it is hard AF!”

Her fans left comments about how much they appreciate her post.

“You have given me the motivation I needed to go back on track and lose the weight I gained in the past year. Thank you for it!!” wrote a fan.

“I have so much respect for you showing this to the world, not because there is anything wrong with it but because it’s so obvious how authentic you are and how fed up you are with the disguise that social media has allowed for. I want my kids to be able to tell the difference between real and fake in a world of mostly fake,” wrote another fan.

Her Instagram post suggests that she isn’t going to stop there. Her first photo is of two fit women standing back to back, holding a dark blue ball.

“I want to be these ladies on the front page,” she concludes. “You are my spirit animals and my goal posts!”
