BOSTON—Ms. Chen, dance instructor and executive director of a Chinese arts association attended the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) Chinese New Year Spectacular held at the Boston Opera House on Jan. 10 for the second year in a row and said it was great.

As a dance instructor, Ms Chen commented particularly on the choreography and the beauty of the dancing. “I thought that the choreography was very fluent and compact. The backgrounds from the dances were beautiful, and the scenes in the performances were outstanding. It was very neat, and the dancers looked like they were professional and well trained ... the overall performance was outstandingly beautiful and extremely neat.”

DPA presents classical Chinese dance—an art form more than three millennia old, which is refreshingly dynamic and expressive. Ancient legends and heroic figures come to life through its leaps, spins, and delicate gestures.

The digital backdrops bring classical Chinese dance into the 21st century, giving each scene an added visual depth and grandeur. Each backdrop is custom-designed to match exactly a given dance’s costumes, storyline, lighting, and even choreography.

‘A Visual Feast’

Also attending the Divine Performing Arts show in Boston on Jan. 10 was Ms. Baxter an elementary school principal.

She described the show as a visual feast, “… and a very peaceful yet energetic artist display.”

She enjoyed the variety of the performances and went on to say: “The beauty was just superb, I was … very taken by the skill of the dancers, the music, the interplay of the colors in the background. No matter where you sat in the theater it was enjoyable … it was superb.”
