CHIAYI, Taiwan—During the intermission of Shen Yun Performing Arts premiere in Chiayi on March 10, 2009, the hallway was packed with people praising the magnificence of Shen Yun. After the show, the audience seemed to have entirely forgotten the economic downturn, and they lingered for picture taking and sharing their realizations with friends or relatives.

Ms. Liang Bingyi, director of the Yushan Dance Association, was among the audience members who were enthralled by the show. Wearing a smile on her face after the show, she said, “The artistic dance presented by Shen Yun was indeed very graceful. It combined various arts in the performance. I was very happy to see it today! I really wanted to dance with them.”

As the director of the ChiaYi City Teachers’ Choir, Ms. Liang has liked Chinese opera and folk dance since her childhood. She has been involved in teaching dance and music for over 50 years. Seeing Shen Yun’s successful presentation of classical Chinese dance, she said, “Being an artistic teacher, I am very pleased to see Shen Yun performing the dance so exquisitely. It is hard to come by.

“Every piece of the dance was so beautiful and wonderful. I cannot say which one was my favorite, since each one was so great.

“I hope that all the Chinese and foreigners the world over are able to see Shen Yun, and it is our wish that Shen Yun can perform in Chiayi City again next year. I would be very happy to see them promoting Chinese culture in other countries around the world,”she said.

Speaking about Shen Yun’s exquisite presentation of classical dance, performers’ solid fundamental skills, and their dedicated performance, Ms. Liang said: “Today, I paid attention to all of these aspects. Chinese art comes in the forms of singing, gesturing, dancing, turning, and jumping. I really enjoy it, and I am very happy to have the opportunity of seeing this unique show performed by the U.S- based Shen Yun Performing Art Company.”
