From Nov. 28 to Dec. 3, 50 paintings selected from among more than 140 submissions for NTD Television’s Third International Chinese Figure Painting Competition will be on display at the Salmagundi Art Club of Manhattan.

The works depict daily life in China, traditions, and the spiritual practice of Falun Gong, which is outlawed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Although the CCP prohibits reading the main book of Falun Gong, “Zhuan Falun,” which teaches truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, some paintings depict practitioners reading and meditating.
