Surprise Gender Reveal Gets Creative When Husband Uses Recording of Late Father-In-Law’s Voice

A California woman was already six months into her pregnancy when she decided she wanted to know the gender of her child. So, she told her husband to come up with a creative gender reveal, and he did exactly that—bringing her to tears.

Jennifer Jones-Prothro and her husband, James Prothro, had always known the gender of their children before they were born. But each time they wanted to tell Jennifer’s father, he refused to hear about it.

“My dad always wanted to be surprised by it,” Jennifer told CNN.

“There are not many surprises left in the world these days.”

After her dad died in 2017 due to cancer and she became pregnant with her ninth child, Jennifer decided to pay tribute to him by not knowing the child’s gender.

However, she changed her mind six months into her pregnancy.

She asked James, who knew of the gender all alone, to give her a special gender reveal.

James, who has a recording studio at home, got to work immediately by editing the recordings of his late father-in-law to produce an audio of him revealing the gender.

“He was her everything,” James explained.

Once the audio recording was done, James handed Jennifer a speaker while he captured her reaction on video, which was later uploaded to Facebook.

In the video, James says, “This is the most special, creative way I could think of to tell you the sex of our child, but I couldn’t do it without a little help.”

And right on cue, his father-in-law’s voice came on: “Hello, Jenny, this is your father. I want to let you, know that it is a girl.”

Jennifer couldn’t believe it.

“The last person I expected to hear was my dad,” Jennifer said. “I wouldn’t have wanted to learn it any other way.”

With such a special gender reveal, Jennifer will definitely remember this for a long time to come.
