As the saying goes, “No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.”

Night has been falling a bit later these days. Birds are gathering and chirping in ever-enlarging groups. Spring is coming into full bloom.

To make the most of this delightful change in seasons and to embrace the sense of renewal and hope that spring brings with it every year, here are nine ways to prepare for spring.

Exercise

If movement hasn’t been a regular habit for you this winter, it’s time to get going. Springtime calls us out into the fresh air and beckons us to take action. Prepare your body by increasing, little by little, the amount of movement you get each day. A walk outside that increases in duration incrementally might be the easiest way.

Nutrition

Springtime is a great time to reassess your diet and incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your daily routine. Gear up and energize yourself for the coming season, which is sure to compel you to do more.

Sleep

When seasons change and our clocks are altered, our bodies are impacted. Make sure you and your family are enjoying a consistent sleep schedule that restores every night.

Mindset

Take a cue from the season of spring and look forward with a renewed sense of hope and gratitude. Dive deep into your spiritual practice, maintain a gratitude journal, and take note of and appreciate the budding beauty all around you.

Vision

With your renewed mindset, look to the future and envision some goals you may wish to aim for this spring and beyond. Define them as specifically as you can. Envision their fruition and what accomplishing them would mean for you and those around you.

Tidy

Who isn’t compelled to take on some spring cleaning this time of year? Fling open the windows and clear out the cobwebs. Fill donation bins, declutter your closet, clean in the spaces that don’t get much attention, and give your living space a fresh, clean reset.

Routines

Life can get busier as spring approaches. Ensure you’re prepared with solid routines to keep yourself on track. Assess what’s been working for you and what hasn’t.

Habits

Much of our activity each day is done out of habit. Assess your current habits and determine which you should strengthen, which you should replace, and which you should add to your repertoire.

Seeds

Spring is the planting season. Take advantage of the seasonal momentum to plant seeds of growth in your life. Whether you decide to plant a literal garden or make plans and take initial actions that act as planters seeds towards progress in areas of your life, think like a gardener and plant seeds of goodness this spring.
