Make a Simple Extra Loft Bed

A loft bed is the likely the best solution when you are cramped for space.

Dear Stephen: When space is the primary concern, you cannot beat a loft bed. If you are feeling really energetic, you can build cabinets and drawers under the bed. You will be surprised how much space will be freed up by having a loft bed raised from the floor.
