Two years after going missing, an emotional support dog was returned to his owner in a heartwarming reunion.
Samantha Powers, from Indiana, had begun to give up hope of ever finding Loki, her pit bull, until she got a call from a staff member at Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
After her beloved dog went missing, Ms. Powers filled in multiple reports in the hope of finding him, but it was to no avail.

At the end of May 2024, Loki was brought to the Fort Wayne animal shelter looking happy and healthy, community relations officer Abigail Reyes told The Epoch Times. The shelter’s theory, Ms. Reyes said, is “someone found him, took really good care of him, and then Loki must have escaped that house, too.”
One of the very first things the shelter does when a street animal comes in is scan them for a microchip.
“When we hear the beeping of our microchip reader, we get excited,” Ms. Reyes said, “because that means we should be able to find the owners.”
After hearing Loki’s microchip beep, the organization contacted Loki’s owner.

Ms. Reyes wasn’t present during the emotional reunion between Ms. Powers and her ecstatic pup. However afterward, when coworkers showed her the video and told her all about it, it was clear how special the moment was.
“There was ... lots of emotion, lots of wiggles and waggles from Loki who was jumping up to his owner out of excitement; you could tell he really had missed her,“ Ms. Reyes said. ”It means a lot to our shelter and to owners when we are able to reunite lost pets with their owners.”
