Parodies are a lot like Westerns. They’ve been around forever yet have never been the most favored genre. They always seem to resurface when least expected. The entire Mel Brooks back catalog is comprised of parodies of every possible genre—except British period pieces. Considering how ripe the period pieces are for lampooning, I’m semi-surprised no one has yet to truly skewer them thus far.
