Bonobo is one of those annoyingly talented musicians, playing most of the instruments on this accomplished album and just as at home with a double bass or a sampler. Black Sands was completed in 2009 but a year of polishing is apparent in the well-finished, beautifully textured songs. Ninja Tune aficionados will appreciate these catchy downtempo treats and collaborations with stunning vocalist Andreya Triana. Two of these were released as singles, the latest B-sided by the obligatory contribution from 2010’s remixer of choice, Floating Points. Look out for the UK tour in May and a special Roundhouse gig with full strings and horns.
