Eight baby ducklings had a lucky escape on Monday (May 8) after being rescued from a storm drain in the United States capitol.

The D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from the Metropolitan Police regarding the ducklings that had fallen down the drain.

The EMS personnel managed to rescue all eight ducklings and return them to their mother, who waited anxiously on the other side of the road.

The EMS said that although they had one similar incident several years ago, duckling rescue is not something they do on a daily basis.
