A natural combination of genres on display here with dub reggae pioneer Hopeton Brown (aka Scientist) reworking unreleased tracks from the top producers in today’s dubstep scene. Heaps of tape delay, echo, and chorus effects abound as Scientist uses decades of production skill to add his signature to the original tunes. The result is bass-heavy and atmospheric dub music, typified by rolling kick drums, snappy snares, and funky percussive rhythms. Fans of King Tubby and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry should unquestionably check it out, as should any dubstep fans who follow the likes of Shackleton, Mala, and Kode9. [This album is] a convincing and welcome contribution to both musical genres.
