Anyone remember Joy Zipper? No? Well anyway, here we have the natural heirs to their throne as leading male/female wistful fuzzfolk duo. Admittedly it is quite a niche kingdom but nonetheless an important one. It’s a sweet record but never veers too far into treacle territory as it reveals a squally heart at times, not least on opener ‘Please Concrete’ and ‘I Don’t Feel Young’ where US indie legends Yo La Tengo spring to mind.  Album standout ‘Obituary’ closes out the record, exhibiting an expert confection of shoegaze and folk, not always the easiest of bedfellows, but in these hands at times delectable.
