In a heart-warming story of a woman’s search for her family, she finally meets her father for the first time after taking an Ancestry DNA test. After years of struggling, Kelsey Prado met her real dad.
Kelsey Prado, a San Antonio resident, had always struggled with not knowing who her real father was.
“I went through a terrible fight with depression and anxiety and it was difficult,” Prado said in a vlog KENS5 news reported. “I just thought, you know, I can’t let anything happen to me. I need to find my father. And I wanted to fight for my family and for that hope that God was going to lead me to him. I just felt it.”
A friend convinced her in December 2017 to take a DNA test to see if she could find her father. According to KENS5, she matched with a distant cousin, whom she friended on Facebook. After a few more months of research and making connections, she found him. He came to her home and the exchange was captured via Facebook live by her husband.
“It was as if he was the only one in the room when he walked through that door, it was like he had like this halo of light around him… everything else blurred,” Prado told KENS5 news.
According to KENS5, her biological father, Lenny Lopez had been living in Fort Worth with eight kids and a wife of his own.
“He had no idea he had a long-lost daughter,” KENS5 news reported. “In fact, Lopez said he had always longed for a daughter having all boys.”
