The Walking Dead season 5 is coming up fairly soon, and fans are increasingly looking for spoilers to give insight into what will happen in the season.

Bob and Glenn are at the moment the two characters most likely to die, based on screenshots of the trailer.

But Daryl’s death is always feared by many fans, as he’s become one of most beloved characters in the show.

AMC recently released a photo of the main cast sitting in front of the boxcar at Terminus in which they were trapped at the end of season 4.

Everyone was there--except for Daryl.

As Comic Book notes, “it’s that time of the year when AMC toys with fans to make them think Daryl Dixon might be getting killed off,” hinting that Daryl was left out on purpose.

Norman Reedus added via Twitter that he’s been listening to sad music, joking to “bring the Kleenex” to the set, and thanking fans for their support--helping lead to the chatter that Daryl might be killed off at some point this season.

Meanwhile, showrunner Scott Gimple said in an interview with AMC that this season is ramping up the action.

“The second half of Season 4, especially, had a lot to do with these characters being separated in the most extreme circumstances. The beginning of Season 5, they’re obviously not that separated. There are a couple of characters that are still [away] from the rest, like Carol, Tyreese and Judith. Everyone else is pretty much together and that’s a stark difference,” he said.

“I would say from more of a thematic place, things are going to get extremely brutal and life is going to get that much more difficult for these characters, but they are together, so they have more support. They have each other to lean on and they’re going to need to lean on each other quite a bit.”

Romance will also be in the cards for some of the group (the only two definitive couples at the moment appear to be Bob and Sasha and Glenn and Maggie).

“Love or romance is going to be an element this season. It’s not going to be an element in a huge part of the season, but as we get towards a specific part of the season, it’s going to become more of a reality and a complication,” he said.

“Human nature, all the good and bad parts, are things that both complement and compromise survival. Love is part of that.”

Season 5 premieres on Sunday, October 12.
